About this event
Whitewater Contemporary presents a Solo Exhibition by emerging young painter Max Leuchars. Max attended Bryanston School, whose alumni include artists Lucian Freud, Sir Howard Hodgkin and designer Sir Terence Conran. This collection, his third for Polzeath’s Whitewater Contemporary, includes a specially painted series of dramatic seascapes inspired by the North Cornwall coast, alongside a collection of rural landscapes and city scenes from his European travels.
Max travels widely, seeking inspiration from both rural and urban scenes. His new paintings, several of which are presented on a very large scale, demonstrate his talent for oil work and richly emphatic palette-knife texture, as well as the subtle adjustments of colour he uses to capture the atmosphere and topography of each place.
Max Leuchar’s work has been exhibited at London’s Decorative Fair, Olympia Art, LAPADA, the Bruton Art Fair, and the A Way to Break Through exhibition for emerging artists.
