Creative mechanical skills workshop for teens aged 14+ run by Discovering 42 and Jack Stiling.

Bicycles – the solution to all of life’s little problems. Come and explore what makes a bike tick and how these mechanisms can be used to make things other than transportation. In a one-day session, we shall endeavor to construct a lifting crane with the help of an old bicycle, some hand tools, a little guidance, and some perseverance.

Working alongside a small group of fellow tinkerers, we will have you taking things apart in no time, and hopefully, putting them back together in new and exciting (or at least unusual) ways. Let’s see just what an old bike can be.

This project is funded by the UK Government through the UK Community Renewal Fund. Cornwall Council has been chosen by Government as a Lead Authority for the fund and is responsible for monitoring the progress of projects funded through the UK Community Renewal Fund in Cornwall.
