About this event
In 2024 and 2025 we’ve taken on one of Shakespeare’s most beloved plays: A Midsummer Night’s Dream for the 4th time (what can we say it’s a gem and we love it). Touring across Cornwall in March 2025 this dynamic, upbeat and quirky retelling of a time-honoured classic will bring laughter, comedy, and magic to venues across Cornwall next Spring. Our talented troupe of young actors will not fail to impress audiences with this version of the classic tale of love, magic, misunderstanding and mischief.
In Midsummer Night’s Dream expect a Duke and Duchess who are about to be married, an angry fairy King and his disobedient Queen, four frustrated human lovers, and six terrible actors trying to put on a play in an enchanted forest.
“Four days will quickly steep themselves in night; Four nights will quickly dream away the time; And then the moon, like to a silver bow. New-bent in heaven, shall behold the night Of our solemnities.”
2024 is Cornwall Youth Theatre Company’s 40th anniversary year. Since 1984 the company have worked with thousands of young people from across Cornwall, performing hundreds of plays. This year, at the request of the company, we are taking on a Shakespeare. Previous Shakespeare plays we’ve performed are Twelfth Night and the Scottish Play, as well as A Midsummers Night’s Dream on three other occasions. We’re excited to take on one of Shakespeare’s most well known plays as we celebrate our anniversary year.
