About this event
Love a family quest? Visit the museum in Truro this Easter holiday to hunt for escaped sprites, and make a special talisman for future adventures in the mythical land of Cornwall!
Cornwall’s intriguing and mysterious myths and legends are the subject of a new exhibition at Cornwall Museum and Art Gallery this spring, with stories like King Arthur, The Mermaid of Zennor, and the giants of St Michael’s Mount creatively brought to life through the museum’s collection.
The museum’s free Easter holiday activities are based around the exhibition and take you a step further into the magical kingdom of Cornish folklore.
Hunt for mischievous creatures (fairies, piskies, knockers, coopers and spriggans) on the The Mini Mythical Creatures Trail. These little sprites have escaped from the exhibition and are hiding all over the museum! Can you help find them all, solve the riddle, and say the magic word to bring them under control?
Once your quest is complete, visit the ‘make and take’ craft table to create your own journey sticks and fairy wands – essential talismans for future adventures in the mythical land of Cornwall.
The museum is open seven days a week from the start of the Easter holidays onwards, 10am – 4pm. Entry to all galleries and exhibitions is included in the cost of an Annual Pass, which is just £10 for adults and free for under 18s. There’s a cloakroom, buggy parking, changing facilities and special backpacks to support those with sensory needs.
The exhibition Cornish Myths and Legends runs from 31 March – 1 November, 2026.
