About this event
Get ready to dive into the mesmerizing world of surf and sea poetry!
This event will take place on Sun 3 Sep 15 2023 at 14:00 in the surf hotspot of Perranporth. Join us at Perranporth Memorial Hall for a spoken word performance filled with captivating words, rhythmic beats, and the spirit of the ocean.
This all-women poetry collective brought you Morvoren: the poetry of sea swimming in 2022. They are back with Mordardh, which is Cornish for breaking wave. Their new project is supported by Arts Council England and involved talking to surfers across Cornwall – why do people surf? Whether you’re a seasoned surfer or simply someone who appreciates the power of words, this event is for you. Let the talented poets transport you to the waves, where adrenaline meets tranquility, and where surf culture intertwines with the beauty of nature.
Led by Ella Walsworth-Bell and a shoal of mer-poets…Fi Read, Abigail Ottley and Kerry Vincent.
Come along – find out why half of Perranporth gets on a wetsuit and heads down the beach when the surf’s up (yes, the other half will be sea swimming!).
Tickets available through Eventbrite.
Don’t miss out on this opportunity to experience the magic of surf and sea poetry. Mark your calendars and join us for Mordardh: Surf Poetry. See you there!
