About this event
For over a decade Music at Tresanton has been gaining praise for its innovative programming and concerts. The festival takes place annually in November, and offers a unique chance to hear a carefully devised programme of four concerts, played by the finest classical musicians, in the intimate and relaxed atmosphere of the beautifully restored St Mawes Methodist Chapel.
The Festival was founded by pianist Noam Greenberg in 2006, when, joined by several friends, they performed all of Schumann’s chamber music with piano, to mark the 150th anniversary of the composer’s death. Putting on those concerts was a leap into the unknown, and while today the festival is well established, something of that original adventurous spirit remains.
While the attitude to the music is most serious, the atmosphere in and around the concerts is relaxed and informal, with many opportunities for the audience and the performers to mix, either in the interval bar that also serves as the musician’s green room, around St Mawes’ sea front, or in one of the village’s lovely little cafes.
The concerts are organised in collaboration with Hotel Tresanton, and all inclusive packages are available from the hotel. But individual concert tickets are also available, as well as subscriptions to all four, and more information about alternative accommodation options can be found on the Booking Details page.
