About this event
Tharik Hussain is a renowned author, historian, travel writer (including several Lonely Planet guides) and Fellow of the Centre of Religion and Heritage at the University of Groningen (the Netherlands), specialising in Muslim heritage and culture. Tharik’s latest book, Muslim Europe, is a revelatory journey, traversing Cyprus, Sicily, Malta, Portugal and Spain, and uncovering the ancient roots of Islam in Europe. For over 1,400 years, Muslims have been an integral part of the continent’s story, yet their contributions have been pushed to the margins or erased altogether. In Muslim Europe, Tharik restores this forgotten history
Tim Hannigan, born in Penzance, teaches Writing and Literature at the Atlantic Technological University Sligo. He has written several narrative history books and travel guides, as well as features for newspapers and magazines
