About this event
Adam Skerrett is a wandering storyteller, recently returned from a bardic quest to walk the South West Coast Path, trailing the story lines that run through the great myths of this land. You are invited to hear the wonder tale of his walk, woven into the stories of the coast. Expect poetry, myth-telling and adventure; for magic is afoot upon the path!
Adam Skerrett is a Cornwall based poet and writer.
He is a professionally trained actor and theatre-maker with an MA in Myth and Ecology, studying with renowned West Country storyteller Martin Shaw.
In 2019 Adam was awarded the Tony Hoagland poetry scholarship to Robert Bly’s Great Mother Conference in Maine, USA for his poem ‘My Invisible Eve.’
Adam’s writing has been published by The Stroller’s Tale, Imaginal Futures,
and The South West Coast Path Association.
Adam is currently working on his first book: ‘Mythwalker: A Guide to the Stories and Legends of the South West Coast Path.’
A short film about his work, entitled ‘Mythwalker,’ premiered at the World Trails Film Festival 2022 in Greece.
Also in 2022, Adam launched a series of ‘Myth Walk Experiences’ in West Cornwall; guided storytelling walks, where he shares the tales of this land, in the places where, they say, they happened.
“Adam is exploring the terrain where myth and landscape collide. You may find him in the folds of a fairy tale or on the darkening path to the Grey Wethers stones.”
Dr Martin Shaw, storyteller and mythologist.
“Adam’s takes the audience on a spellbinding adventure of magic, mystery and fun! He brings forth the qualities of inspiration and mysticism like the Bards of the ancient traditions.”
