About this event
I’m a Cornish wildlife artist based in Lanlivery, Cornwall and this is my first year taking part in Open Studios. I create detailed wildlife art using watercolour and ink from my artist studio at the bottom of my rural garden. My studio is a self-converted wooden summerhouse and my desk takes pride of place looking out onto the same wild and ever-evolving landscape that filled my heart with so much joy as a child and kindled my compassion and love for wildlife. My studio is gently nestled into the wild hedgerow of alder, blackthorn, brambles, and birdsong. In the neighbouring meadow wild rabbits run through the long, wind-teased grass, a silent buzzard circles overhead, and the occasional glimpse of a fleeting deer or fox at dusk never fails to fill my heart with wonder. My studio is filled with old and secondhand furniture, salvaged wood shelving, nature reference books, and natural ephemera collected on my wanderings. The back wall is covered with shelving to display and store my prints, cards, and homewares which can be purchased during Open Studios at special prices.
