About this event
Wassailers can celebrate in the tradition.
The event will take place in the community field at Newquay Orchard and ‘wassailers’ will be able to play their part in celebrating the Orchard with apple juice, hang toast from the apple trees and ward off bad spirits by making loud noises to welcome a fruitful harvest in 2022.
Hetty Ninnis will be leading the Wassail and is excited to share the event with residents of Newquay.
Hetty said: “Wassail is one of my favourite events of the Orchard calendar! It’s a strong tradition in the South West and one which we’re very proud to be able to recreate in our beautiful green space.”
As well as the wassail procession there will be fireside storytelling on the community field and the chance to purchase hearty food, locally pressed apple juice or mulled cider at Canteen at the Orchard with their usual fair and affordable prices.
The Wassail dress code is also something to behold. Newquay Orchard advises participants to don warm coats, sensible boots, green face paint and feathers in hats. You might even spot some members of the Newquay Orchard team behind their wassail masks.
