The programme will include David’s own organ transcription of Symphony No 5 by Vaughan Williams. This is a benefit concert, with all proceeds going to Truro Cathedral Music. Tickets cost £15-25, under 18s are free. Please book tickets via the Minack Theatre Book Office (Tel 01736 810181).
David was Organist and Master of the Choristers at Truro Cathedral (1989 – 1994) and it will be wonderful to welcome him back to the instrument he loves so much. The large screen will be up with a live relay so that the audience can see the organ console throughout, with its four keyboards and pedals.
David Briggs is an internationally renowned organist whose performances are acclaimed for their musicality, virtuosity, and ability to excite and engage audiences of all ages. Consistently ranked as one of the finest organists of his generation, David’s extensive repertoire spans five centuries. He has also become one of the foremost organ transcribers of symphonic works, thereby giving listeners the opportunity to experience the organ in a new way.
