About this event
Come along and explore the miracles and mysteries behind the manuscripts in the Out of the Ordinary exhibition, as well as a chance to view the exhibition.
The event will be hosted by Will Coleman. The morning will feature presentations by Professor Michelle Brown, Dr Oliver Padel and Ken George outlining the four manuscripts (The Cornish Ordinalia, Creation of the World, Bewnans Meriasek, Bewnans Ke) which have returned to Cornwall for the first time in centuries for this exhibition.
At lunch, there will be a chance to purchase refreshments at Kresen Kernow’s new Ginkgo Cafe (or you’re welcome to bring a packed lunch), as well as see the Out of the Ordinary exhibition.
The afternoon will take the form of a panel discussion about how the plays may have been staged in the past, and the challenges and thrills of staging them today. The panel features Jason Squibb (St Just Ordinalia), Simon Harvey (o-region, Kneehigh), Sue Hill (Wildworks), Jack Morrison (Feast), Guy Watson (Cousin Jack’s) and Bethany Lyne (Cornwall365).
Symposium attendees are welcome to stay on for the launch of Professor Michelle Brown’s new book ‘The Word and the Shaping of Cornwall Before the Reformation: Stone, Scripture and Playscripts’ (Francis Boutle, 2021). A full programme will be sent to attendees closer to the time.
