About this event
Oy is a project created by Artists Caitlin J Clarke and Andrew Whittle for national landscapes.
It is a re-imagining of lost artefacts from the Rillaton Barrow, Minions, Bodmin Moor.
In the old Cornish tongue, “Oy” means Egg — the beginning of all things.
Long before the present age, when the moor was young and the winds still carried the voices of the land, the people gathered the memory of the moor. Seeds, stories, soil, water, and the breath of the hills were placed into small beads, each one holding a fragment of the living landscape.
These beads were sealed within a great vessel — the Cauldron Egg.
The cauldron was not simply a container, but a promise.
It was buried in the land and entrusted to time.
Inside the cauldron lie the beads of remembrance.
When the Egg is opened in a time of ecological crisis, the beads will be scattered across the moor. As they return to the earth, they release the memory of the land — restoring seed, story, and life.
Each person who releases a bead becomes part of the renewal.
The moor remembers.
And through the hands of the people, it is born again.
This workshop is an opportunity to become a part of this communcal art piece and to connect to Bodmin Moors wild ancient history and Ecology,
All children must be accompanied by adults, all ages welcome,
we hope to see you there 🙂
