About this event
Location: Engine Room at The Exchange
Be they fact or fiction, former theatrical director, playwright and author, Pamela Vass is drawn to real-life mysteries. In this costumed and illustrated presentation, she brings to life the true story of Mary Kelynack. In 1851 – and in her 84th year – Mary walked from Penzance to London to witness the marvels of the Great Exhibition. Welcomed by the Lord Mayor, feted by London society and even acknowledged by the Queen, this fishwife from Newlyn captured the hearts of London and became one of the most unlikely legends of Victorian Britain
