About this event
This pastel workshop is open to all people of all abilities. Note that students who need to build a portfolio are also welcome. This will be a relaxed, interactive workshop, in the artist’s studio, with 6 people at most, and everyone receiving good attention from the host.
In the first half of our workshop, those unfamiliar with pastels will have an opportunity to explore the various types of pastels available and also the papers and cards on which the medium can be applied. For those more familiar with the medium, this will be an opportunity to ask questions and make new discoveries. The sky is the limit here.
Refreshments will follow.
The second half of the workshop will be devoted to creating the picture of your choice. Bring your sketchbooks or photos, paint the seaview or a still life. Your picture could range from miniature to much bigger.
Materials: bring your basic materials and anything you wish to use in addition to the materials provided here. If you wish to experiment with wetting pastels, bring brushes. Bring a couple of cloths. Spares will be provided. There are 4 easels here, so if you wish to bring a table easel, that may turn out to be useful.
All in all, we aim to make this an enriching and joyous experience!
