A community-curated exhibition at Penlee House

Penzance Selects is a co-produced exhibition working with four groups: Carefree Cornwall, the John Daniel Centre, Mounts Bay Academy and Penlee House’s Citizen Curators.

Each group has been welcomed behind-the-scenes at Penlee House to explore the collections and to reinterpret the objects that they find meaningful. Each group will then curate their own gallery, using these artefacts to tell a story, or shed new light on the objects and paintings they have chosen.

Listen to the sounds of Penzance and Newlyn through the brilliant soundscapes produced by Carefree Cornwall whilst enjoying the paintings depicting the locations in the soundscapes.

Explore Penzance town centre with The John Daniel Centre group who have created an amazing map using historic photographs .

Be transported back in time to learn more about the history of the Penlee House collections and of Penlee House itself in Mounts Bay Academy’s gallery.

Learn more about creativity in Newlyn in the exhibition by the Penlee House Citizen Curators.

Alongside we will have our annual Crafts for Christmas selling exhibition featuring works by Cornwall Crafts Association members.

Admission is FREE during these exhibitions, which run from 23 November to 4 January.
