PGS: Chess The Musical

After a string of acclaimed productions across Devon & Cornwall, the international award-winning PGS Theatre Productions are thrilled to present the electrifying and dramatic, Chess the Musical, on the Cornwall Playhouse stage.

With music by Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus of ABBA and Mamma Mia!, and lyrics by Tim Rice, this powerful musical delves into the heart of the Cold War, using the world championship of chess as a thrilling backdrop. Featuring an orchestra and singers of 50+ performers to bring the iconic songs such as One Night in Bangkok, Anthem, and I Know Him So Well, alive, PGS Theatre Productions will transport you to a world of political intrigue and emotional turmoil.

Set against the backdrop of international chess tournaments, Chess explores the complex relationships between two grandmasters, an American and a Russian, and the woman caught between them. As the Cold War rages, their personal battles mirror the larger political struggles, revealing the human cost of power and ambition.
