About this event

A free interactive workshop that allows you to walk in Brunel's footsteps at Kresen Kernow.

The photograph of Isambard Kingdom Brunel in front of the launching chains of the Great Eastern is very well known, but what do you know about Robert Howlett the photographer that made the image? Come to Kresen Kernow between July 26th – July 30th for an interactive workshop where you can play with replica cameras and make Victorian selfies.

Students and staff from the Games and Photography departments of Falmouth University have designed an experimental interactive workshop that will allow you to walk in Howlett and Brunel’s footsteps from 1857. Play with a mixture of digital and analogue technologies and tell us what you think of it. All the images and prints are yours to keep and you can submit them to an online exhibition.

Activities will be available on Tuesday 26th, Wednesday 27th, Thursday 28th and Saturday 30th July from 11am-3pm (Kresen Kernow is closed on Fridays).

Accessibility

Details

Kresen Kernow is fully wheelchair and pushchair accessible, with lifts to all levels and automatic main entrance doors. Accessible toilets are available on both floors, with a fully-equipped Changing Places toilet also available on the ground floor. Separate baby changing facilities are also available on the ground floor. If you are arriving by vehicle, there are six accessible parking spaces at the Tesco side of the building and a level entrance into the building. If you are arriving on foot or wheels, from Redruth town centre, the closest entrance is at the end of the public path which runs through the old brewery site, from Chapel Street to Kresen Kernow.
