About this event
Cumbrian cellist and poet Kenneth Wilson, 66, is known for his mad projects but perhaps this one – Pilgrim Cello – is the maddest of all. Starting on 18 May, Kenneth will cycle, with his cello, 2,000 miles around all 42 of the English Anglican Cathedrals. As an ex-Cathedral, St Germans Priory is honoured to be one of the stops on Kenneth’s musical pilgrimage ‘Pilgrim Cello’ – an extraordinary journey combining poetry, music, and pilgrimage.
With his cello carried on the front of a specially adapted bike, it’s not just a bike ride, it’s a pilgrimage in the ancient tradition, and a concert tour bringing a powerful reflection to each sacred space. Kenneth will be giving a performance of a specially written Meditation, which consists of a series of reflective poems interwoven with movements from the Bach Suites for Solo Cello.
