About this event
Join 99p Films for a social cinema screening of ‘Power Station’, taking place at venues across Cornwall.
Can a whole street be powered by the sun?
Power Station follows the story of two artists as they set out to take their street off-grid and kickstart a solar-powered energy revolution.
Our social cinema screenings follow the 99p Films model: BREATHE – WATCH – DISCUSS – EAT, bringing communities together to watch stunning documentary films, before sharing thoughtful discussions and delicious food.
Upcoming screenings:
12 Mar – PENZANCE – The Gardeners’ House
26 Mar – REDRUTH – The Ladder
27 Mar – PORTHTOWAN – Eco Park
28 Mar – HELSTON – The Old Cattle Market
29 Mar – FALMOUTH – Princess Pavilion
30 Apr – TRURO – Cornwall Museum and Art Gallery
A key part of these evenings is a shared feast, prepared using local seasonal produce by a team of talented chefs, specialising in a range of cuisines, from Syrian recipes to South Indian flavours. We’re proud to source our ingredients from Falmouth Food Co-op, winner of the Sustainable Food or Drink category at this year’s Cornwall Sustainability Awards.
Tickets are available now at 99pfilms.com
We look forward to seeing you there!
More about Power Station:
The idea began in the depths of lockdown with the question ‘what could we do from where we live, with the people around us, to build power – of energy and imagination?’
Working to turn a street and local schools solar, Power Station is a scalable, in-your-face prototype of community-led power. Channelling Withnail and I and Ealing comedies, the film charts the financial and emotional trials and tribulations of making change together.
From sleeping on rooftops to growing thousands of sunflowers and attempts at Christmas number one, community spirit and resilience are at the heart of this documentary.
