About this event
In the beginning, there were words – first words, second words, sentences – and then, our life stories. But where do those stories start…? In this hilariously relatable spoken word show, prize-winning poet Priyanka Moorjani (PM) shares their experiences as a 20-something, British-Indian queer person. PM’s show will have you laughing, crying and questioning your identity at the same time.
PM is a writer across disciplines. Covering topics of gender, sexuality and cultural identity, PM puts authenticity and vulnerability at the heart of all her performances. Her work has been published in Spoken Word London’s ‘Anti-Hate Anthology’, and King’s College London’s Creative Writing Anthology ‘Voices’, and widely online. PM has been part of the UK spoken word scene since 2017, coming 3rd in the UK National Slams in 2019 and winning the Queer@Kings prize for their poem ‘The Persistence of Memory’ in 2020. In 2022, she was a Roundhouse Poetry Slam semi-finalist. She has made it her mission to make poetry more accessible and inclusive, sharing spoken word as a form of entertainment and comfort in these tough times.
