About this event
Simon Parker grew up in Penzance and in his recently published book, PZ77: A Town A Time A Tribe, presents an authentic – and perhaps surprising – picture of life in in the town during the 1970s; the blossoming creativity (through making music, art, writing, photography, etc), sparked largely by the arrival of great punk bands and new wave artists of the era. Showcasing the diverse and highly personal voices of a generation with readings, memorabilia and a soundtrack of the times, this is nostalgia at its best.
Simon Parker is a writer, playwright, journalist, editor and publisher. His work has been staged at The Minack, Sterts Theatre, Barbican, Theatre Royal, been broadcast on BBC Radio 4, and published in a number of books. He was a journalist for The Western Morning News for 30-plus years. He grew up in Penzance.
