Join us in decorating a raku pot during this quick firing method

Whilst in Japan Bernard Leach took part in a raku party that would leave a lasting impression on him and led him to establishing the Leach Pottery with Shoji Hamada in 1920.

This summer, join us in decorating a raku pot and watch the exciting transformation of the colour and textures during this quick firing method. Across the summer we will be experimenting with different firing methods – from Horse Hair, Naked, Reduction and Oxide firings. If time allows, while the raku firing takes place you will have the opportunity to hand build with local clay.

*in the event of poor weather, an alternative clay based workshop will take place instead.
