About this event
The Cornwall Garden Society’s (CGS) 2021/2022 lecture series launches this October with two thought-provoking talks by Ray Broughton, who is returning to lecture in Cornwall by popular demand.
His first lecture is entitled Future Developments in Horticulture to Cope with Climate Changes.
Having trained at RHS Garden Wisley in the mid-1970s, Ray was Head of Horticulture at Sparsholt College in Hampshire for 12 years and now teaches staff and students at RHS Garden Wisley where he is Chief Examiner.
In 2000, he was awarded a Fellowship by the Chartered Institute of Horticulture for his services to horticultural education.
Ray shares his passion for his work by lecturing throughout the UK on a diverse range of topics such as Organic Gardening, Pests and Diseases, Vegetable and/or Herb Gardens, Propagation and The Garden Year: A Month-by-Month Guide.
He describes himself as an enthusiastic gardening author as well as a garden designer and opens his own garden in North Bedfordshire to the public.
These lectures are free for CGS members. Non-members are welcome to attend to find out more about the Society and donations are gratefully received.
A local nursery will offer high-quality plants for sale and refreshments will be available.
The CGS is a charity that exists to encourage and improve the science, art and practise of horticulture in all its branches; share knowledge about gardening and Cornwall’s rich garden heritage, and conserve the county’s natural environment. The Society is affiliated to the RHS and its Patron is HRH The Prince of Wales.
