About this event
Join Penzance Orchestral Society for this concert of great symphonic music involving composers, topics and instruments that are a little off the beaten track!
Samuel Coleridge Taylor’s Ballade, a beacon of British romanticism; Tchaikovsky’s delightful Rococo Variations performed on viola by soloist Jake Montgomery-Smith, the much-loved instrument overlooked by 19th century concerto composers; Anna Clyne explores the extremes of Schubert’s manic depressive mood swings in Night Ferry, and, six traditional Greek Dances arranged by Nikos Skalkottas – as quintessentially Hellenic as Kalamata Olives, Dolmades and Ouzo!
