An opportunity to see a collection of brand new paintings inspired by the coast.

I’ve been working all winter on a new collection of paintings especially for Open Studios. The common theme is the sea and our connection to it. On my daily dips in the sea I have been observing the comings and goings of people; walking their dogs, collecting drift wood, hunting for sea glass or staring out to the horizon. All these small dramas are dwarfed by the crashing waves of the sea just feet away. It is this juxtaposition between the sheer power of the sea and the delicate lives of the humans pottering on the sand that I seek to show with this collection. There will be humour but also, I hope, moments of contemplation.
As well as the new work there will be an opportunity to buy my award wining book, A brush with the coast, prints, cards and a limited edition jigsaw.

Directions

From the Treluswell roundabout take the Redruth exit. Negotiate the double bend and we are the last turning on the right (before the lay-by) and almost opposite a T junction on the left. There is a sign on a lamppost saying Swallow Cottage.
