About this event
Designed for creative 14–17 year-olds with a passion for film and hosted at Falmouth University, this exciting two-day course offers a hands-on introduction to the world of filmmaking. Working in professional-standard facilities, you’ll explore the full journey from script to screen, gaining practical experience across key stages of production.
Guided by experienced tutors, you’ll get behind the camera to learn essential techniques in cinematography, lighting and directing, before moving into postproduction to edit footage, refine visuals and experiment with sound design. You’ll also gain insight into important crew roles and how collaborative film sets operate.
Through a series of engaging workshops, you’ll work with industry-standard equipment in studio, editing suites and sound facilities, building confidence and technical skills in a supportive and creative environment. Along the way, you’ll meet like-minded peers and gain valuable insight into studying and working in the screen industries.
The course culminates in a final screening, giving you the chance to see your work come to life and celebrate what you’ve created. By the end, you’ll have developed a strong foundation in filmmaking and a deeper understanding of how stories are brought to the screen.
