About this event
Along the Cornish shoreline, fragments of glass are slowly transformed by the sea — softened, frosted, and reshaped over decades into what are often called mermaid’s tears.
In this immersive workshop, you’ll create your own miniature rockpool in silver, centred around a piece of sea glass and brought to life with delicate, nature-inspired details.
You’ll choose your own piece of sea glass — each one shaped by the tide and carrying its own quiet history — and learn how to set it securely within silver clay. From there, you’ll design and build your composition, adding optional elements such as shells, starfish, and organic textures to create a pendant that captures the spirit of the shoreline.
No experience is needed. This workshop is designed for beginners, with clear step-by-step guidance throughout in a calm, supportive environment.
Working in a small group of no more than four students, you’ll receive plenty of individual attention in a relaxed, creative studio setting.
During the workshop, you’ll learn how to shape and prepare silver clay, set sea glass securely, add texture and detail, and refine and finish your piece ready to wear.
By the end of the session, you’ll leave with your own handcrafted Cornish sea glass rockpool pendant — a unique piece of solid silver jewellery, full of texture, memory, and meaning.
Sea glass is naturally tumbled and frosted by the ocean over many years, creating beautifully soft, coloured forms ideal for jewellery. You’re welcome to bring your own sea glass or meaningful stones to incorporate into your design.
