About this event
As part of this residency, guests and the local community are invited to collaborate on creating a large wooden mural in the sunken play area. Led by Phil, you will be invited to use spray paint and stencils to decorate and embellish large abstract wooden shapes pre-prepared by the artist. The shapes in the wooden mural will echo the shapes and colour palette used within the large mural.
Guests will also create their own small sculptural reliefs using cardboard, spray paint, stencils, posca pens, etc, which they can then take home.
The workshop will conclude in the bringing together of the wooden shapes to create one large dynamic sculptural relief that will stay in site.
This workshop is part of Be Newquay Festival – a new season of events, activities and workshops that celebrate Newquay’s culture and creative spirit. Throughout each weekend in November, the festival will be taking place at various venues across the town. Find out what else is on the programme here. Join us and be creatively curious.
The Be Newquay Festival has been curated by Cornwall Council project ‘Experience Newquay’ in collaboration with local project partners Love Newquay and Visit Newquay. It is part-funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
