Return of the local heroes and Acorn favourites, formed in 2020

Formed in early 2020, The Skata-likes burst onto the Cornwall music scene with one clear mission: to bring the infectious rhythms of classic ska and reggae to life. The band was born from a shared love of the genre after he was inspired playing alongside members of the legendary Skatalites at Tunes in the Dunes — a moment that sparked a brand-new ska adventure.

Drawing influence from icons such as Prince Buster, Rico Rodriguez, Tommy McCook, and Don Drummond, The Skata-likes deliver high-energy, horn-driven ska and reggae guaranteed to get feet moving and hands in the air.

Now firmly established as one of Cornwall’s standout local bands, they’ve taken their joyful, dance-floor-filling sound to pubs, clubs, weddings, and major festivals across the county — including Rattler Fest, Falmouth Reggae Festival, the Royal Cornwall Show, and Boardmasters.

Since their last packed-out appearance at The Acorn, the band has gone from strength to strength, bringing together some of Cornwall’s finest musicians for a live show that’s bigger, tighter, and more irresistible than ever.
