Live Online Sessions with Artist Gary Long

Demystify painting and learn the nuts and bolts of studio practice by watching an artist work through a process live online. Join artist Gary Long in our studio where he will share with you the creative journey of creating a portraiture in oils working from a model.

This is the second of our Studio Practice sessions with a focus on the art of creating a portrait from scratch. They are designed to compliment our Thursday webinars with practical in depth demos that can help motivate you by building confidence in materials and process. Gary’s is broken up into two sessions lasting two hours each. Sharing with you different parts of the process he goes through to take a sketch to a finished portrait in oils. This first of our online sessions is a special edition with our long standing tutor Steve Dove as Gary’s model over the two days.

There will be an opportunity for students to pose questions to Gary during the demonstrations. We will have a camera on the model throughout the session so students can also have a go at drawing and painting alongside Gary.

You can watch them live or later as we record them and send you a link. These will be available to view for two weeks after the session.

Once you have booked you will receive a link. There is no need to register with Zoom. You will also be invited to join our Facebook Alumni group so you can share your discoveries with our community of fellow students from around the world.
