Penzance Litfest presents 'The True Story of a Devon Parish Apprentice' with Liz Shakespeare.

Author and successful self-publisher Liz Shakespeare will read from her latest book The Song of the Skylark and explain how she discovered and researched the story of a young brother and sister sent to work as parish apprentices on a remote farm. When a series of failed harvests made life intolerable, the pair made a daring escape which brought them face to face with the heartless judicial system of early Victorian England.
