About this event
On 20th May, make your way to Newquay Orchard’s Fayre – a celebration of the place as a community space – featuring music, food, wellbeing, connection, stalls and games…
The event runs from 10am to 3pm..
And at midday, catch a specially-formed SproutSpoken Collective – featuring Kev Mud, Alissa Kindred and David Matthews – performing at The Terraces (in front of the Heart and Soul cafe).
——————————–
Kev Mud is obscure and hairy – just like that stray dog you wanted to keep when you were a kid, but your mum said no, because it accidentally knocked over a vase and relieved itself on the sofa. Touching on subjects such as man boobs, facial hair, and the Son of God, he also has poems that aren’t autobiographical, is dashingly handsome and definitely didn’t write this himself.
Alissa Kindred makes work that touches on the profound and the profane in equal measure – surprising and disarming her audience with deft strokes as she weaves the everyday with the transcendent. Her recent performances include as part of Rob Drummond’s Open Mic (Soho Theatre, London) the IWD Cabaret (The Acorn, Penzance) and support for Hollie McNish’s recent gig in Newquay.
David Matthews is a singer-songwriter known for his originality, humour and depth, and ukulele songs about internet dating, school refusers and personal growth, David Matthews lives in West Cornwall where he also works as counsellor and runs songwriting workshops for the soul.
