About this event
We can’t brie-lieve it… it’s thyme for another SproutSpoken at Sprout Health Foods! Lettuce gather together, take a whisk and turnip the beet… as we celebrate all things food! Join us on Saturday 19th August 2023 for a fantastic evening of food-themed open-mic sharing – with a bonus feature from Penzance-based, Jane Pugh.
We’ll be collecting donations for Newquay Food Bank on the night – so have a rummage in your cupboards and bring whatever you can along.
Sign up to the open-mic and share your words… Why not write about your favourite tipple, your nemesis nosh, the joy of family meal times, your obsession with condiments, your relationship with curry? Or whatever you like! Whether it’s your first time or you’re a regular – there is bags of support and encouragement! If you’re taking part, tickets are free – just book one below and include a few details about yourself when you checkout.
SproutSpoken is just as much about our audiences… you don’t need to take part to enjoy an evening out with a difference. Come along and soak up the exciting range of people from your community having a go as well as emerging performers.
As usual, Sprout Health Foods will be providing a great range of hot food and snacks, as well as alcoholic/soft drinks.
Doors open: 7pm
Event start: 8pm
Age guidance: 14+
[evening likely to contain mature themes]
PLEASE NOTE: THIS EVENT MAY EITHER BE INSIDE OR OUTSIDE DEPENDING ON THE WEATHER.
Our feature performer for the night…
JANE PUGH
In her words… “I’ve lived in Cornwall since 2000. I come from the North West of England and I’m half Welsh, half Italian and half English which doesn’t add up, but neither do I. For instance, I’ve survived cancer and won an Oscar but not at the same time, obviously. I like writing. Sometimes it’s easy and sometimes it’s hard, but I could never stop. I write short stories, mainly to perform. I also write plays and screenplays. And I’m a lecturer, facilitator and script editor. I see my job as a story discoverer. Living in the country by the sea informs my writing and so does a sense of humour and so does my dog because he costs me a bloody fortune so I need to get out there and work.”
