A day of talks on the architectural history of St Tudy Church.

THE ARCHITECTURAL HISTORY OF ST TUDY CHURCH

Saturday 12 September, 10am – 4.30pm, in St Tudy Church, PL30 3NQ.

Raising money to repair the church tower roof and for the conservation of the medieval stained glass and embroidered reredos.

ALL ARE WELCOME to a full day of talks on the heritage and history of St Tudy Church, given by the key authorities on their subjects in Cornwall.

Jeremy Chadburn: the church conservation architect on what his job entails and what is needed to repair the church tower roof
Dr Joanna Mattingly: a well-known writer on Cornwall’s churches including Churches of Cornwall and Cornwall’s Saints, Jo will talk about the early medieval history of the church (including why the left the job unfinished!)
Dr Paul Cockerham: an independent researcher based in Cornwall who has written numerous books and articles on the heritage of Cornwall’s church monuments. His talk will focus on the memorials in the south aisle of St Tudy Church.
Dr Patrick Newberry: an architectural historian based in east Cornwall, Patrick wrote his PhD thesis on the architect JP St Aubyn and will talk about his work at St Tudy.

The day will cost £25 to include a Barnecutt’s pasty, hot drinks and cake, all of the talks, and lunchtime activities including your chance to have a go at bell ringing.
