Journey of the Cornish miner: tin, tales and tunnels with Alasdair Hoswell

Step into the world beneath Cornwall on Thursday 27 August, 10am-12pm, with award-winning children’s author, performer and educator Alasdair Hoswell as the Cornish miner Al.

In this exciting family workshop, children and families will journey into the world of Cornish mining through stories, songs and playful adventure. Together we’ll explore hidden tunnels, uncover mysterious treasures, and discover what lies deep underground.

Expect an interactive session full of storytelling, parachute games, imaginative play, and hands-on arts and crafts inspired by Cornwall’s rich mining heritage.

This activity is free and there’s no need to book! It’s a fun, creative and immersive experience designed for children and families to enjoy together.

Accessibility

Details

Kresen Kernow is fully wheelchair and pushchair accessible, with lifts to all levels and automatic main entrance doors. Accessible toilets are available on both floors, with a fully-equipped Changing Places toilet also available on the ground floor. Separate baby changing facilities are also available on the ground floor. If you are arriving by vehicle, there are six accessible parking spaces at the Tesco side of the building and a level entrance into the building. If you are arriving on foot or wheels, from Redruth town centre, the closest entrance is at the end of the public path which runs through the old brewery site, from Chapel Street to Kresen Kernow. Please note, Kresen Kernow does not have a fire lift, but two fire refuges are located on the first floor.
