About this event
A wonderful ceilidh band playing traditional folk music as well as originals.
The beginnings of Cataclews go back to November 2010 when Brian and Christine moved into Trevone. They very quickly met Richard who encouraged them to take part in the village pub’s open mic night…The following year Christine, Brian and Richard, loosely called the Villagers, were encouraged by Frances Trenouth to get together with a local fiddle player, Frank Pickering…so the band was formed.
It did not take long for other invites to play to roll in so we needed a name. Looking at the local Ordnance Survey map Brian suggested Cataclews after the rocky peninsula that juts out from the end of Harlyn Bay. Everyone agreed and our band was established.
Over the years we have established a niche market playing at garden festivals like Boconnoc, Powderham Castle, Bowood House and Forde Abbey. We are proud to be considered celebrity gardener Toby Buckland’s “House Band”.
We love to get people up dancing and it is always a privilege to play at special family events like weddings, birthday celebrations and anniversaries.
2019 brings a new guitarist to the band, another Treyarnon Bay regular, Arthur Cunnington.
