Celebrate International Surfing Day 2025 with a Curator’s Tour of our major exhibition SURF!

Join Guest Curator Dr. Sam Bleakley for an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of the National Maritime Museum Cornwall’s SURF! exhibition, marking 100 years of surfing history in Cornwall.

This guided experience takes you beyond the public displays to uncover the stories and research behind this major exhibition.

Explore the exhibition’s five themed zones: Culture, Craft, Activism, Inspiration, and Champions, while discovering rare objects from waveriding heritage, some of which have never been displayed before. Sam will share insights into the collection of 100 significant surfboards and reveal the creative journey of bringing this comprehensive surfing retrospective to life!

Advance tour booking essential – limited spaces available. Tour is free with paid Museum admission, please bring your Museum annual pass or purchase on the day ahead of the tour start time.

Tours at 11.00am or 2.00pm – tour duration approximately 1 hour.

Details

Accessible toilets are located on the first and second floors and there are larger facilities available if required. An ADi Room Mate is installed in the accessible toilet near to the Waterside Cafe – ADi is an audio device for blind and visually impaired visitors. The Museum is fully accessible to wheelchair users.
