About this event
Author Susan Fletcher’s debut novel, Eve Green, written while she was taking the MA in Creative Writing at UEA, won the Whitbread First Novel Award in 2005 and the Betty Trask Prize in 2006. She now has a further seven novels to her name, supplementing her writing through various roles including a cheesemonger and warden for an archaeological excavation near Hadrian’s Wall. Described by fellow authors as a “wonderfully warm and involving page-turner” (Clare Chambers) and a “life-affirming novel, full of surprises” (Emma Stonex), her latest book, The Night In Question, has an 87-year-old heroine at its centre. Florrie has led an an extraordinary life full of travel, passion and adventure and suspects that there are no more surprises to come her way. Then, one midsummer’s night, something terrible happens – so strange and unexpected that it arouses her suspicions. Was this really an accident, or is Florrie living alongside a would-be murderer?
