Shostakovich: Piano Quintet
Winners of the Beethoven Prize at the 2nd International Beethoven Chamber Music Competition, the Fitzroy Quartet formed at the Royal Academy of Music in 2014. Since September 2017, they have been ‘Associate Ensemble’ at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire where they are studying with Oliver Wille and were also selected as artists for the Belcea Quartet Charitable Trust. They have participated in masterclasses from many of the world’s leading chamber musicians including Garfield Jackson and David Waterman of the Endellion Quartet, Levon Chillingirian, Martin Outram and Christoph Richter, Miguel da Silva and Gunter Pichler.
Roman Kosyakov was born into a musical family and made his concerto debut at the age of 12. In 2012 he graduated from the Central Music School in Moscow, having studied with Farida Nurizade and then in 2017 from the Tchaikovsky Moscow Conservatory, where he studies with Vladimir Ovchinnikov. As part of Fitzroy Piano Quartet Roman won the Royal Overseas League Annual Music Competition String Ensembles section in January 2020.
