Open Studio showing painting and drawing, finished work as well as that in progress.
I paint and draw, and include in some of work elements of augmented reality.
My visual art practice sits alongside my work as a writer, researcher and academic. As a child, I spent much of my time dreaming in the witch house. The Gothic continues to return in my work, where I use words, paint and digital means as ways of surfacing the obscured and buried.
I am currently working in oils, often from live models as well as in the landscape, to find ways of expressing space, materiality and light. This work is part of a wider exploration of the relationships between image-making and the myths and folklore of Cornwall.
I’m interested in making images that blur boundaries between inside and outside as well as taking an animistic perspective on the landscape.
