Tanya Krzywinska - Open Studios

Artist, painter, writer. Sometimes figurative, sometimes landscape, sometimes both; focused on animism, a heightened sense of nature & folk horror.

Over the past five years, I’ve been researching AR and VR for museum contexts, collaborating with museums in Cornwall. Alongside this, and my scholarly work on the Gothic, I also maintain, in various forms, a visual art practice. In this Open Studios I will show work that I have been doing towards a MA Fine Art degree programme at Central St Martins. After having written about folk horror in games and cinema as an academic, and recently completing a book entitled ‘Gothic Kernow: Cornwall as Strange Fiction’, co-authored with Ruth Heholt, the work included in this Open Studios pivots around the theme of folk horror, mixing landscape and figurative work, mainly working with oil painting.
