About this event
From the 24th-26th September 2021 the world’s leading adventurers will gather at Mount Edgcumbe County Park for a full weekend of adventure! The event will feature inspiring tales of adventure and exploration, adventurous activities for you to get involved in, brilliant live music and top-quality local beer and street food.
Already announced is triple around the world yachtsman Conrad Humprheys. As the fifth British yachtsman in history to complete the legendary Vendee Global, a solo around the world race, Conrad has more than a few stories to tell. Most recently Conrad took part in the recreation of Captain Bligh’s epic story of survival, Mutiny on the Bounty, for Channel 4. Using traditional navigation equipment and surviving off the same meagre rations as Bligh, Conrad and his team were cast adrift 35 miles to the south of Tofua near the Kingdom of Tonga in a replica boat. Their mission: to survive and safely navigate across 4000 miles of open ocean to Kupang, Timor and recreate one of the world’s greatest open boat voyages. Conrad will be telling us how the challenge went on the Armchair Adventure Festival stage and festival goers will have the chance to join Conrad for a sail onboard Bounty along the beautiful Cornish coastline which surrounds the festival.
Festival goers will also have the opportunity to step out of their armchairs and enjoy a whole host of other activities. There’s opportunity to take out a kayak or paddleboard and explore the 7km’s of pristine coastline which surrounds the festival, or you can opt to bring your speedos and join an organised wild swimming trip along the coast. On dry land you can make use of the miles of mountain bike trails, join in with the family friendly foraging, fire-lighting and shelter-building survival workshops, or opt to go further afield on an organised adventure motorcycle tour.
