About this event
A restorative & mindful sketching workshop led by artist Ingrid Brown at Tregenna Castle Resort, set within the hotel’s lush St Ives subtropical gardens.
This session invites participants to slow down and engage deeply with observation, mark-making, and atmosphere rather than focusing on technical perfection.
Working outdoors, you will be guided through simple, accessible drawing approaches designed to build confidence and presence. The emphasis is on noticing light, form, texture, and mood, and translating these into expressive sketches that capture sense, feeling, and place.
Suitable for anyone interested in immersing themselves for 2 hours in a beautiful subtropical setting to pause from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Ingrid encourages a calmer, more intuitive way of working, and her teaching focuses on reducing pressure, building visual awareness, and developing a personal response to the surroundings.
Participants will explore how sketching can become a mindful process—supporting focus, relaxation, and creative flow—while also developing practical drawing skills that can be taken into future work in painting or sketchbooks.
Set within the grounds and surrounding views of Tregenna Castle Resort, the environment itself becomes the experience, offering shifting light, natural forms, and expansive coastal atmosphere as source material.
All materials guidance is provided in advance, and participants are encouraged to bring sketchbooks and portable drawing tools suited to working lightly and freely on location.
