About this event
The Band of His Majesty’s Royal Marines Plymouth is based at HMS Raleigh, the Royal Navy’s Initial Training Establishment in Plymouth, where they’re at the heart of naval life, providing music for weekly passing out parades and a host of ceremonial events.
From ship commissionings and homecomings at HMNB Devonport to Officer Training at Britannia Royal Naval College, the Band is woven into the fabric of Royal Navy life across the South West. And their role goes beyond the music, Plymouth Band are trained in Chemical Decontamination and held at high readiness to deploy alongside Royal Marines units when called upon.
Versatility is what sets them apart. Concert band, big band, function band, orchestra, and everything in between. Their termly concert series at the Roebuck Theatre on HMS Raleigh sells out every time, drawing a devoted audience who keep coming back for more.
Further afield, they’ve performed across the world, from New Zealand and Japan to Trinidad, Tobago, Egypt, and America. Closer to home, they’re regulars at some of the most iconic events in the military calendar, including Beating Retreat on Horse Guards Parade, The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, and the Mountbatten Festival of Music.
Join us at the Cornwall Playhouse for an evening of music performed by some of the finest military musicians.
