About this event
The BIG Movement Newquay is a celebration of community, uniting people through dance and movement.
4Motion is grateful to have received funding from Tresorys Kernow, enabling us to create The BIG Movement to celebrate the talent, spirit and creativity of the Newquay community. We have an ambitious vision to unite young people, community groups and businesses through live and recorded ‘pop-up’ flashmob performances across Newquay.
4Motion CIC will be hosting two free community events as part of this project, the first taking place on Friday 24th June, 12:30-2pm titled ‘Schools DANCE The BIG Movement’. This exciting event is for local schools, an opportunity for young people to come together to move, connect and learn The BIG Movement dance. 4Motion is working with young people to create The BIG Movement; choreography has been inspired by the environment and landscape of Newquay and the young people’s reflections on ‘I love Newquay because….’
On Saturday 25th June, between 10:30-12:30pm 4Motion will be hosting The BIG Community Movement event in Newquay town centre. There are two audience participation options to ensure all members of the public can access and enjoy the event. The first option is to join 4Motion at Fistral Beach, at the RNLI base at 10:30am where The BIG Community Movement starts. 4Motion performers will guide the audience to iconic landscapes around Newquay, pausing at different locations to share a ‘pop-up’ performance. These guided encounters are a wonderful opportunity to walk outdoors and enjoy live performances and the atmosphere of Newquay. The final stop for the BIG Community Movement will be hosted on the Killacourt, an accessible space in the heart of Newquay. Audience members are welcome to join us at the Killacourt from 11:30am if they prefer not to join the walking performances at 10:30am.
No experience is required; fun is the key, come join the friendly 4Motion community and celebrate all that is great about Newquay.
This project is funded by the UK Government through the UK Community Renewal Fund. Cornwall Council has been chosen by Government as a Lead Authority for the fund and is responsible for monitoring the progress of projects funded through the UK Community Renewal Fund in Cornwall.
