Lamorna Colony Pioneers The Dream Exhibition

Leading Cornish art historian David Tovey, the author of the two-volume Lamorna – An Artistic, Social and Literary History and co-curator of the exhibition Lamorna Colony Pioneers which runs at Penlee House Gallery, Penzance, until September 30, presents what would have been his Dream Lamorna Exhibition should all desired works, by such artists as Laura and Harold Knight, Alfred Munnings and S.J. Lamorna Birch and the avant-garde group Gluck, Marlow Moss, Ithell Colquhoun, John Tunnard and John Armstrong, have been available.

The combination of the fine collection of paintings in the show at Penlee House and these further unavailable masterpieces highlight the importance of the Lamorna colony as an entity in its own right as opposed to being merely a branch of the Newlyn colony.
