About this event
I have fifty years of experience of working with clay using abstract forms presented as teetering on the edge of gravity – my nemesis and my name-maker! I am influenced by the work of Henry Moore, my mentor, and Hepworth. Recent years have seen a breakaway: seabirds also feature, again the schism between the balance and the fall, expect a heady optical experience…
This will be my last Open Studios, so a retrospective of past work on show and some will be for sale: mother and child features several times, as do lone female figures.
I use a local stone mason for the slate plinths and, depending on the subject, marble or polished wood, usually oak, for the base. Prices start from £100 for the birds, depending on complexity, to £150 for small abstracts to £1,500 for the large Madonna or other abstract forms – usually mounted on slate.
My studio is in The Fradgan, Newlyn. Situated off the Penzance to Mousehole road. There is a carpark very close by and many studios and galleries and cafes within short walking distance. The Copperworks is a short distance and the amazing Coddiwombles is approx 150 yards.
Please come to my last show, you will be very welcome, if my opening times don’t suit please contact me and we can arrange a time to suit you….Thank you, Diana
