Hailing from the pirate haven of Penzance, this fun, upbeat, pirate-folk band have hung up their cutlasses, exchanged their galleon for a land ship (named Hubert Cumberdale) and taken to a life of music.

Formed recently in 2019, JollyRoger are already taking the south-west by storm and gigging port, bow and starboard. Soon getting booked for the likes of Boardmasters Festival and performing on BBC RADIO CORNWALL and TCR RADIO.

They are described as ‘traditional yet exciting’ and are complimented on their funny and lively shows. JollyRoger are full of energy, take pride in their performances and are ‘bound to get your toes tapping’. JollyRoger comprises of siblings Jae Dennis (guitar/ ukulele/ harmonica) & Samantha Hannah (mandolin/guitar) plus Kynan Sandles on the lesser-seen acoustic bass guitar. When all three sing together, they provide a ‘whistle wetting romp full of three part harmonies’. With a mixture of upbeat folk music, some original pirate material and some good old fashioned sea shanties, there’s something for everyone; they are bound to warm your cockles!

Story telling through songs is my favorite thing to do with a guitar and a voice.

I always aim to engage listeners through a mixture of music old and new but hope that I can make them hear something new in a familiar song or even share something new that they’ll like and remember. I include songs by Van Morrison, Passenger, Ray Lamontagne, Elliot Smith, Daniel Johnston building up with songs from The Pogues, George Ezra, The Waterboys.
