About this event
The Longest Johns, following their nine concert sell-out tour of the USA , are starting their eleven gig Smoke and Oakum tour, of the UK with a farewell concert at the Memorial Hall in Perranporth.
It will be a farewell concert, because, after 15 years The Loudest Shout Sea-Song and Shanty Festival in Perranporth, has finally come to an end.
For the L.J.s, this will be something of a sentimental journey , since they first came to Perranporth in 2013, with a low-profile appearance in the Seiners’ Arms, and haven’t missed a ‘Shout’ since then.
Their first headline concert at the ‘Loudest Shout’ was in 2015, when they were supported by the
Oggymen.
This time their support band will be the ‘fantastic and feisty’ womens’ shanty group, Figurehead.
The Longest Johns rise to fame with Wellerman, was compounded by their Mass Community Choir version of Leave Her Johnny ,which welcomed so many new enthusiasts to shanty music, during lockdown. They haven’t looked back!
